Abstract:
Stevens’s novel records impressions of the Bahá'í community in ‘Akká and Haifa in 1911. The two main characters are moving through an "individuation process" which could lead them to the Bahá'í Faith. Jungian literary criticism explains the symbolism.
Notes:
See also The Mountain of God excerpts (Stevens, 1911), and see a review.
