Abstract: This presentation draws on a comprehensive survey of the authoritative writings of the Bahá’í Faith to clarify its position on intellectual activity and the pursuit of secular and spiritual education. The parameters pertaining to Bahá’í scholarship are examined, and a number of possible pitfalls discussed. The relevance of education and scholarship to the foundation of global civilization is considered, and the relationship to the core activities of the Five Year Plan analyzed.
