یک تراژدی تلخ در گستره تاریخ ایران: انقلاب بابی کشی در یزد (تابستان ۱۹۰۳ میلادی)

Abstract: This article focuses on one of the most significant episodes of religious persecution in early 20th-century Iran and an important precursor to the social tensions that contributed to the Constitutional Revolution. The author argues that anti-Bahá’í agitation was encouraged by certain Shiʿi clerics and local political actors, while government officials were either ineffective, complicit, or inconsistent in their response. The violence began in Spring of 1903 and escalated during June and July. Bahá’í homes and businesses were looted and many Bahais were beaten, imprisoned or killed. Some killings were carried out publicly and with extreme brutality. Eventually, the pressure from the central government helped bring the violence under control.
