Letter of the Báb to His Beloved Mother

Abstract: Presented herein is a provisional English rendering of a sacred Letter revealed by the Báb, addressed to His dearly cherished mother, Fátimih-Begum, during the period of His incarceration in the remote fortress of Chihríq. This poignant and historically significant Letter—imbued with tender affection and profound spiritual insight—was composed on Thursday, the 28th of Shaʿbán in the year 1265 A.H., corresponding to 19 July 1849 C.E. The Letter stands as a rare example of the Báb’s personal correspondence and offers a glimpse into the intimate devotion He maintained toward His mother amidst the harsh trials of imprisonment.
